Was a pretty good jazz trumpeter by all accounts. My parents used to watch him play in The Wagon and Horses in Lancaster when we lived there.
His son was a few years above me at school and every year Jim would donate a load of tickets to watch Bullseye being filmed live. Each year they would be returned as no-one wanted to drive from north Lancashire to Nottingham on a Sunday afternoon.
Ended up on the local radio to Lancaster and Morecambe after he used the N-word on BBC Lancs.

Was in Blackpool many moons ago and chatting some girls, one of them claimed to be Jim Bowen's daughter. One of my MATES ended up going back to Preston with her and doing the business, she wasn't Jim Bowen's daughter but he never found out why she claimed to be.
